Holme Wold Cottage was built over 100 years ago and retains a number of original features

As the mother of 2 boys I have always found holiday cottage gardens rather frustrating, usually small with various rules which curtail their fun!  So when we decided to open Holme Wold Cottage we realised we had the luxury of space.  The garden is very large and mostly grass (sorry gardeners) making it ideal for the family (or the dog) to run around with a ball, Frisbee or whatever and have fun.

Our Gardens

The garden is surrounded by woods, where, if you are quiet you can spot the wildlife which may include hares, rabbits, pheasants, partridge or hopefully our resident barn owl.  There is also a pair of red kites in the area along with many other creatures for you to spot.

Near the back door of the cottage is a patio area with garden furniture where you can eat, relax with a book or an evening glass of wine.

At the side of the cottage we have parking for 3 cars.  There is a small garage if you would like your car or motorbike to be undercover.

Getting Outdoors

For those of you with sports equipment there is a large shed, which can be locked, for you to store bikes, walking boots, etc.  The washing machine and spare logs are also in here.

The East Riding has a number of routes for cyclists and walkers. Visit the Walking the Riding site for ideas.  In the cottage we have laminated routes for you to take out with you.

Pets

We are happy to welcome pets to stay (by arrangement and additional fee applies).  All we ask is they are kept on leads outside of the cottage garden and they do not go upstairs or onto any of the furniture.  We also can’t let them stay alone in the cottage or garden for their own welfare.
